ARTICLE SUMMARY:

US hospitals remain under pressure in 2015, although there are some reimbursement bright spots. To learn more about what’s in store for providers, and what medical device suppliers can do to boost their chances of new technology adoption, MedTech Strategist recently spoke at length with two experts from hospital consulting firm Corazon Inc.

According to James Burns, VP, and Business Consultant Kristin Truesdell, colleagues at Corazon Inc., a company that provides consulting and management services to hospitals and other providers (as well as billing education to device vendors), financial pressures on US hospitals will continue to intensify in 2015 (although there are some notable reimbursement bright spots), and device manufacturers need to be cognizant of that fact. In the following interview, Truesdell – who recently summarized Medicare reimbursement changes impacting the cath lab in an article published in the October 2014 issue of Cath Lab Digest – notes that the two new Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2014 for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) will have a notably positive impact on TAVR providers.
