Allurion Technologies Inc. was founded in 2009 by Samuel Levy, MD, and Shantanu Gaur, MD. Jonathan Wecker joined in 2010 as CEO. Wecker is the former CEO of the largest provider of Lap-Band weight loss surgery in the US. Levy and Gaur are close friends who attended many lectures together at Harvard Medical School, during which the topic often came around to unmet medical needs.
