ARTICLE SUMMARY:
Australian start-up 4Dx has developed a first-of-its-kind imaging technology that noninvasively measures the natural motion of the lungs to facilitate earlier lung disease detection and safer monitoring of patients suffering from chronic respiratory conditions.
Lung diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis (CF), pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and respiratory distress in newborns are placing an enormous and growing burden on society, resulting in one in six deaths globally, growing to approximately one in five deaths by 2030, according to the World Health Organization and other sources.
